Bootstrap
The WEBSALE V8s sample shop is based on the CSS framework Bootstrap: reasons for this choice, use of the components, and notes on alternative frameworks.
WEBSALE V8s ships by default with a sample shop that is based on Bootstrap.
Bootstrap is a free CSS framework. It contains HTML- and CSS-based design templates for typography, forms, buttons, tables, grid systems, navigation, and other interface elements, as well as additional optional JavaScript extensions.
WEBSALE V8s chose Bootstrap as the CSS framework for the shop templates to make it easier for designers and web developers to structure an HTML page and to provide a comprehensive selection of typical page elements. In addition, you benefit from consistent naming and classification of almost all elements of the templates. In principle, this makes it easier to build, migrate, and integrate existing page elements and new developments. Designers and web developers also benefit from the continuous further development and expansion of the framework and from a range of Bootstrap-compatible development solutions and helpers.
Bootstrap is generally backward compatible, so as a rule you benefit from extensions and bug fixes of the framework when updating the respective Bootstrap files, without having to make adjustments to your HTML files. Nevertheless, before an update, please check the version notes on the manufacturer’s website in order to be able to react to any changes that affect your HTML code.
In its standard version, Bootstrap already includes a selection of JavaScript components that are based on jQuery. WEBSALE V8s already makes use of some of these components. You are welcome to use additional components. You can find information about this on the Bootstrap website.
Future developments and frontend modules from WEBSALE will be delivered Bootstrap-compatible by default to ensure smooth and seamless integration.
Of course, you are free to use an alternative CSS framework or no framework at all to build your shop templates. Please note, however, that the class names of the template elements provided in the sample shop and parts of the basic HTML structure may need to be adjusted.
