WEBSALE V8s keeps each payment method under a fixed number, the payment method code. You encounter it in the order data, in the interface to the merchandise management system, and wherever a tag or a configuration needs to address a payment method. The codes are the same across all shops. Which payment methods your shop offers, on the other hand, is defined in the shop.config.

The codes

Codes 50, 51, and 52 aren’t listed in the previous documentation and have been added here. Code 43 was listed there as no longer used; it is actually assigned to giropay via PayPal Checkout. Conversely, code 8 was listed as “Geldkarte” even though it is no longer assigned. Codes 24 and 30 were listed as no longer used; they are assigned to ClickAndBuy and PayU.

Unassigned and discontinued codes

A code isn’t reassigned after a payment method is dropped. That is why there are gaps.
If you analyze order data from older years, you may find codes that are no longer assigned today. So treat unknown codes as unknown in your analysis instead of rejecting them.

Special considerations for PayPal Checkout

Twelve of the codes belong to PayPal Checkout. It’s worth taking a closer look here, because several payment methods appear under two different codes, depending on how they’re integrated. For your analysis, this means: if you want to know how often customers paid with PayPal, querying a single code isn’t enough.
