# Buttons in the order process

> The BT tags that guide the buyer through the checkout: from the basket to the payment and shipping method, to the order overview, back to individual steps, and finally to placing the order.

The checkout takes the buyer across several pages: basket, addresses, payment and shipping method, order overview. The tags on this page move them between these steps and trigger the order at the end.

Two patterns are involved. The tags with `_Next` and `_Back` move one step forward or back. The tags with `BT-Change_…` are located on the order overview and jump directly to the step the buyer wants to change again.

## How the BT tags work

A `BT-` tag outputs the technical name of the button, not its label. The shop uses this name to recognize which button was clicked.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<input type="submit" name="~BT-PlaceOrder~" value="Zahlungspflichtig bestellen">
```

The tag goes into the `name` attribute, the text for the buyer into `value`. The button must submit and must be inside the associated form.

## From the basket into the checkout

### BT-Order

Starts the ordering process. The buyer leaves the basket and moves on to the next step.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<form action="~FORM-Basket~" method="post">
   ...
   <input type="submit" name="~BT-Order~" value="Zur Kasse">
</form>
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> The tag is permitted on all templates that contain the `FORM-Basket` form. This is not only the basket page but also, for example, a mini basket in the page header.

> [!WARNING]
>
> The button must be inside `FORM-Basket`. Outside of it, the name is not sent on submit, and the click has no effect.

## Payment and shipping method

The payment and shipping method page (`ws_pay_deliv.htm`) has three buttons, and which of them you need depends on how the buyer got to this page.

| Tag | Leads to | Intended for |
| - | - | - |
| `BT-PayDeliv_Next` | the next step in the checkout | the normal flow |
| `BT-PayDeliv_Back` | the billing and delivery address page (`ws_address_combined.htm`) | the step back |
| `BT-PayDeliv_Change` | the order overview page (`ws_place_order.htm`) | returning after a correction |

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<form action="~FORM-PayDeliv~" method="post">
   ...
   <input type="submit" name="~BT-PayDeliv_Back~"   value="zurück">
   <input type="submit" name="~BT-PayDeliv_Next~"   value="weiter">
   <input type="submit" name="~BT-PayDeliv_Change~" value="Änderung übernehmen">
</form>
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> `BT-PayDeliv_Next` and `BT-PayDeliv_Change` differ only in their target. A buyer who came from the order overview to correct the payment method should go back there and not through the entire flow again.

## Corrections from the order overview

On the order overview page (`ws_place_order.htm`), the buyer sees all their details once more. Four buttons take them back to exactly the place they want to change.

| Tag | Leads back to |
| - | - |
| `BT-Change_Basket` | the basket |
| `BT-Change_Addr` | the billing address |
| `BT-Change_DelivAddr` | the different delivery address |
| `BT-Change_PayDeliv` | the payment and shipping method page |

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<h2>Ihre Rechnungsadresse</h2>
~A-Name1~<br>
~A-Street~<br>
~A-ZIP~ ~A-City~
<input type="submit" name="~BT-Change_Addr~" value="ändern">
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> Place each of these buttons directly next to the block it changes. A collection of four change buttons at the bottom of the page forces the buyer to guess.

## Submitting the order

### BT-PlaceOrder

Triggers the order. This is the buyer's last click in the shop.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<input type="submit" name="~BT-PlaceOrder~" value="Zahlungspflichtig bestellen">
```

> [!WARNING]
>
> In Germany, the label of this button is regulated by law. It must clearly indicate the obligation to pay, for example with "Zahlungspflichtig bestellen" (order with obligation to pay) or "Kaufen" (buy). A plain "Absenden" (submit) or "Weiter" (next) does not satisfy the button solution under Section 312j of the German Civil Code (BGB).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Double clicks are the most common cause of duplicate orders at this point. Disable the button after the first click using JavaScript.
