# General online services

> The services that are activated in the online service area at no extra cost when a shop is commissioned, from the order overview and statistics to text maintenance.

The general online services are the foundation of the online service area. They are activated when a shop is commissioned, depend on its scope, and incur no additional costs. Everything beyond that is described under [Special online services](https://dokumentation.websale.de/en/v8s/online-servicebereich/spezielle-online-dienste.md).

The following sections describe what each service does and how you work with it. For services that have their own chapter in this documentation, this page only provides an introduction with a reference to the detailed description.

## Order

The Order service lists all orders from your customers.

Select a time range in the filter area of the left column to display the orders from that period. Below the time range, further filters let you narrow down the list. Use the search field in the left column to search specifically for an order reference, that is, the order number.

In the result list, you mark an order as read using the envelope icon. This lets you see directly in the list which orders you have already processed. The **Details** link opens the detail view, where you can store a processing status for each order item.

## eMarketingManager

The eMarketingManager is the newsletter service of WEBSALE V8s. Its setup and functions are described in a separate chapter.

## Voucher generator

In the voucher generator, you create vouchers that your customers can redeem in the online shop.

Under **Create new vouchers**, first select the voucher type and then edit it. If your voucher campaigns are similar, it is worth taking the detour via **Create new voucher template**: the template then serves as the basis for every further voucher you create and saves you from entering the same values repeatedly.

The input form offers numerous settings. **Generate vouchers** generates the voucher, and you can pass the code on to your customers.

## Performance unit monitor

Your online shop runs in the WEBSALE Cloud. The monthly fee for this consists of a base fee and the consumption of performance units. A performance unit results from program calls of the software and from accesses by shop visitors. The higher the consumption, the higher the invoice amount.

So that an invoice does not take you by surprise, you can store threshold values in the performance unit monitor. If consumption rises above them, you are informed by email. In the event of an unexpected, sudden increase, this leaves you time to find the cause and take countermeasures before the month is billed.

## Product rating

In the Product rating service, you approve your customers' ratings for display in the shop and comment on them.

After you start the service, the **Result** area shows all ratings that are still awaiting your approval. Click **Edit rating** for the desired rating and approve it via **apply, publish and show next rating**. The rating is then online and you automatically move on to the next one. As in the other services, you narrow down the displayed ratings on the overview page using filters.

## Statistics (sales)

The Statistics (sales) service shows the successfully completed orders.

Select a time range under **Date filter** in the left column. You then get an overview of the orders in that period and the number of products sold.

## Statistics (accesses)

The Statistics (accesses) service shows how visitors move around your shop. It thus provides the basis for finding weak points and improving the conversion rate in a targeted way.

The statistics include, among other things:

| Metric | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Number of visitors | Total number of visitors in a period |
| Unique visitors | Number of individual users, regardless of the number of their visits |
| Page views | Total number of pages viewed, including repeated views of the same page |
| Average page views per visit | How many pages a visitor views in one session |
| Traffic source | Where the visitors come from, for example from organic search results, directly, via referrals from other websites, or via social media |
| Device type and browser | What the visitors use to access the shop |
| Geographic data | Country, region, or city of the visitors |
| Time of visits | At which times of day and on which weekdays the shop is visited most |

## Text maintenance

All texts of the shop, except for product and category texts, are stored centrally in text maintenance as text modules. This lets you change content and represent languages without touching the templates.

The text modules are divided into areas. First click the area in which the text module you are looking for is located. You get a table of all text modules in this area. The **Variable** column shows the name of the module, and the **Deutsch** column shows the assigned text. Clicking the text opens an input window.

After making the change, select **Mark as finished** in the input window and click **save**. The input window closes. Changed does not yet mean visible at this point: only the **globe** icon in the table header publishes the changed text modules and outputs them in the shop. This second step is the one most often overlooked when a text change does not arrive in the shop.

Guide: [Basics of texts and languages of a shop (text maintenance)](https://dokumentation.websale.de/en/v8s/grundlagen-zu-texten-und-sprachen-eines-shops-textpflege.md)

### Text maintenance (administration)

The Text maintenance (administration) service has the same functions as text maintenance plus three more:

* Languages and text variables can be exported and imported.
* Rights can be assigned to text maintenance users, for example editing and publishing texts.
* Language management lets you add, edit, and delete languages and assign them to subshops.

This service is considered function-critical because changes made in it can lead to unwanted layout changes in the shop.

## TopRank Manager

The TopRank Manager bundles the functions for search engine optimization and thus improves the indexing and findability of your shop.

| Area | What it is for |
| - | - |
| Global settings | Automatic generation of a standard sitemap in XML format and definition of additional input fields for category pages |
| Terms and content for categories | Filling the previously defined input fields per category with SEO content |
| URL settings | Structure of the SEO URLs for product detail pages and categories, with a large number of available variables |
| Short addresses for campaigns | Concise, SEO-friendly URLs for marketing campaigns for products and categories |
| URLs of information pages | Targeted URLs for SEO-relevant information pages |

The sitemap and the URLs are not regenerated immediately. After you have made your settings, start the run via **Generate manually**.
