# Send emails in UTF-8

> How to specify that the emails sent by the shop are encoded in UTF-8, deviating from the shop's character set.

## Default behavior

WEBSALE online shops generally operate ISO-encoded. Accordingly, all emails are sent in the ISO code that is entered in the shop configuration `shop.config` in the `<Basic>` section:

```ini theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<Basic>
   ...
   Charset = iso-8859-1
   ...
</Basic>
```

## Send emails in UTF-8 instead

For the emails sent by the shop, you can specify separately that they are sent in UTF-8:

```ini theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<Basic>
   ...
   Charset            = iso-8859-1
   ConvertMailsToUTF8 = yes
   ...
</Basic>
```
