# Internal links

Internal links are links used on the templates. They help your customers jump from one page of your online shop to another.

WEBSALE V8s provides a special tag for each page. By appending further parameters to these link tags, you can pass data from one page to another.

The following only describes the internal links that are relevant for search engines; all other internal links are explained directly with the respective feature. The sections go through the page types one after another, from the start page through categories and products to information pages and breadcrumb.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Parameter names must be given in lower case.

## Further internal links

WEBSALE V8s provides many additional internal links that are specifically permitted for certain features and only required to call those features. The corresponding tags can be found directly with the respective feature or function.

## Navigation and menu structures

The navigation of your online shop is comparable to a bridge. It connects. Without a structured navigation, customers quickly lose their overview and thus the desire and motivation to buy in the shop. Navigation is also a central element for search engine optimization.

Guide: Navigation and menu structures&#x20;

## Linking the start page

With the links `URL-Homepage` and `WS-Start()`, the shop start page (`ws_start.htm`) is displayed by default.

### Linking with URL-Homepage

The start page is the main page of your online shop, from which links lead to all categories. It thus forms the top of your internal link architecture. For this reason, there should only be one link to your start page, both externally and internally.

For this reason, use `URL-Homepage` for all internal links to your start page. As a link, this tag exclusively outputs the main domain that is entered in your shop configuration `shop.config` in the `<Basic>` section behind the `Domain-! =` parameter.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<a href="~URL-Homepage~">To the start page</a>
```

### Linking with WS-Start

The `WS-Start` tag creates a link to the start page which, in addition to the main domain, also contains the websale8 parameter including ShopID `?websale8=<ShopID>`. This may create duplicate content, since a second link to your start page is generated.

Within this link tag, you can also specify a speaking name for the URL.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
<a href="~WS-Start(Speaking name)~">To the start page</a>
```

Reference: WS-Start&#x20;

> [!NOTE]
>
> If several subshops use the same domain, the start page must be called via `~WS-Start(Startseite.htm)~`. Please discuss this with your SEO expert.

## Links to categories

With the link `CAT-Link()`, the product overview page (`ws_category.htm`) is displayed by default.

### Linking within loaded category data

If category data has already been loaded on a template — for example, using `CAT-Childs` on the product overview page (`ws_category.htm`) — then no explicit category index needs to be specified within `~CAT-Link~`. WEBSALE V8s automatically links to the loaded categories.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
{CAT-Childs}
   {@CAT-ChildData}
      ...
      <a href="~CAT-Link~">~CAT-Name~</a>
      ...
   {/@CAT-ChildData}
{/CAT-Childs}
```

### Linking without loaded category data

If no category data has yet been loaded on a template — for example, on the shop start page (`ws_start.htm`) — an explicit category index must be specified within `~CAT-Link()~`. This allows a link to be created specifically to a category.

Example: A link to the category "Trousers" with category index `1-456` is to be created.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
...
<a href="~CAT-Link(1-456)~">To the "Trousers" category</a>
...
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> The unique category index is assigned automatically by the WSPManager and displayed for each product. When maintaining the shop via ERP interfaces, the category index depends on the ERP system.

## Links to products

With the link `PR-Link()`, the product detail view (`ws_product.htm`) is displayed by default.

### Linking within loaded product data

If product data has already been loaded on a template — for example, using `@PR-Data` on the product overview page (`ws_category.htm`) — then no explicit product index needs to be specified within `~PR-Link~`. WEBSALE V8s automatically links to the loaded products.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
{@PR-Data}
   ...
   <a href="~PR-Link~">~PR-Name~</a>
   ...
{/@PR-Data}
```

Reference: PR-Link

Reference: PR-Name&#x20;

### Linking without loaded product data

If no product data has yet been loaded on a template — for example, on the shop start page (`ws_start.htm`) — an explicit product index must be specified within `~PR-Link()~`. This allows a link to be created specifically to a product.

Example: A link to the product "Jeans" with product index `1-234` is to be created.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
...
<a href="~PR-Link(1-234)~">To the product "Jeans"</a>
...
```

>
> The unique product index is assigned automatically by the WSPManager and displayed for each product. When maintaining the shop via ERP interfaces, the product index depends on the ERP system.

## Links to information pages and forms

With WEBSALE V8s, you can create any number of information pages, for example "About us", and forms, for example "Contact enquiry". An internal link to these pages is always done via `WS-LoadTpl()`. Since sensitive data may also be entered in a form, an SSL-protected link via `WS-SSLLoadTpl()` is also possible. In both cases you can specify a meaningful text in the links, the so-called speaking name.

### Example of a normal link

Link to the information page Legal notice (`tpl_impressum.htm`) with the speaking URL label "Legal notice of the WEBSALE Shop platform":

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
...
<a href="~WS-LoadTpl(tpl_impressum.htm,Legal notice of the WEBSALE Shop platform)~">to the legal notice</a>
...
```

Reference: WS-LoadTpl()

Guide: Information pages&#x20;

### Example of the SSL link

SSL link to the Contact enquiry form (`tpl_anfrage.htm`) with the speaking URL label "Contact form of the WEBSALE Shop platform":

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
...
<a href="~WS-SSLLoadTpl(tpl_anfrage.htm,Contact form of the WEBSALE Shop platform)~">to the contact form</a>
...
```

Reference: WS-SSLLoadTpl()

Guide: Forms for customer enquiries&#x20;

## Breadcrumb

A breadcrumb can be not just an orientation aid but also useful for navigating through the subcategories. This function is particularly useful on pages where the left-hand navigation is hidden.

```html theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
...
{CAT-PathData}
  ~DC-Int1_set(0)~
  {@CAT-PathRegular}
     ~DC-Int1_inc~
     {!DC-Int1(1)} &raquo; {/!DC-Int1(1)}<a href="~CAT-Link~">~CAT-Name~</a>
  {/@CAT-PathRegular}
{/CAT-PathData}
...
```

Reference: CAT-PathData

Reference: CAT-PathRegular

Reference: CAT-Link

Reference: CAT-Name

Reference: DC-Int1…3

Reference: DC-Int1…3\_inc()

Reference: DC-Int1…3\_set()&#x20;

In addition, you can optimize the breadcrumb for Google, for example by integrating rich snippets. This lets you pass on all relevant information via the breadcrumb in an optimized form to Google. This information can be taken into account by Google and displayed in the search results.

Guide: Microdata in the breadcrumb navigation&#x20;
