# External links

> How external deep links are structured, with which shop, subshop, category, product, shop page, and search can be called specifically from outside.

In addition to the start page of your shop or your subshop, other pages of your shop can of course also be opened via external deep links.

With an external deep link, any other page is called up. To do this, one or more parameters are appended to the shop call that specify the exact destination.

External deep links are used, for example, by search engines, price search engines, affiliate networks, or AdWords and banner ads. Deep links typically refer to categories and products.

Since such external links are indexed by search engines, it is important to design them in the interests of search engines (SEO). Detailed information can be found under:

Guide: SEO URLs

Guide: URL and link optimization

For more information on URL parameters and their meaning, see Materials: URL parameters.

In this chapter we limit ourselves to important links that are relevant for the marketing of your shop. The sections go from the start page through category and product to the individual shop page and the search.

## Calling a main shop

If the main domain including SSL certificate has been set up for your shop with WEBSALE V8s and entered in the shop configuration `shop.config` in the `<Basic>` section, you can open the start page of your shop with the parameter-free main domain:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain
```

> [!WARNING]
>
> For search engine optimization (SEO) reasons, it is strongly recommended to call the start page of the shop via the main domain and not with a URL supplemented by parameters. Only in exceptional cases and in coordination with the responsible search engine optimizer may a different syntax be set up for the shop call.

## Calling a subshop

If a separate domain including SSL certificate has been set up for your subshop with WEBSALE V8s and entered in the shop configuration `shop.config` in the `<Basic>` section, you can also open the start page of your subshop with a parameter-free main domain:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-subshop-domain
```

Reference: Basic section

## Calling a category

### Without parameters (SEO URLs)

Calling a category without parameters:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/<SEO name of the category>
```

Example:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.mustershop.de/Tauchsport
```

### With parameters

To call a category with parameters, the following parameters are required:

* Shop version `websale8`
* ShopID
* SubshopID, if multiple subshops are operated
* Parameter `&ci=`

Add these parameters to your domain to open the desired category:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/?websale8=<ShopID>&ci=<CategoryIndex>
```

Or:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/?websale8=<ShopID>.<SubshopID>&ci=<CategoryIndex>
```

Additional optional parameter:

| Parameter | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `&tpl=...` | If the `tpl` parameter is also used, the specified template is used as the category page. |

## Calling a product

### Without parameters (SEO URLs)

Calling a product without parameters:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/<SEO name of the category>/<SEO name of the product>
```

Example:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.mustershop.de/Tauchsport/Tauchermaske-Nautilus
```

### With parameters via the product index

To call a product with parameters via the product index, the following parameters are required:

* Shop version `websale8`
* ShopID
* SubshopID, if multiple subshops are operated
* Parameter `&pi=`

Add these parameters to your domain to open the desired product:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/?websale8=<ShopID>&pi=<ProductIndex>
```

Or:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/?websale8=<ShopID>.<SubshopID>&pi=<ProductIndex>
```

Additional optional parameters:

| Parameter | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `&ci=...` | The `ci` parameter is optional. It only needs to be used if the desired product is simultaneously present in several categories and the product is to be displayed with exactly the framework data of a specific category. Normally, `ci` is therefore omitted. |
| `&pn=...` | If the `pn` parameter is also used, the `pi` parameter is given preference. This means that if both parameters were used and the product index and product number come from different products, the product with the specified product index is displayed. |
| `&tpl=...` | If the `tpl` parameter is also used, the specified template is used as the product detail view. |

### With parameters via the product number

To call a product with parameters via the product number, the following parameters are required:

* Shop version `websale8`
* ShopID
* SubshopID, if multiple subshops are operated
* Parameter `&pn=`

Add these parameters to your domain to open the desired product:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/?websale8=<ShopID>&pn=<ProductNumber>
```

Or:

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark"},"languages":{"custom":["/languages/websale.json"]}}
https://www.your-domain/?websale8=<ShopID>.<SubshopID>&pn=<ProductNumber>
```

| `&pi=...` | If the `pi` parameter is also used, the `pi` parameter is given preference. This means that if both parameters were used and the product index and product number come from different products, the product with the specified product index is displayed. |
| `&tpl=...` | If the `tpl` parameter is also used, the specified template is used as the product detail view. |
